Sunday Aug 20
Join your Brooklyn community on Sunday, August 20th at 11:00 am with a book to share and swap. Fresh air and fresh minds — we’re in the business of engaging our minds indoors and outdoors. Bring along a book you packed with you on your last hike, commute, or walk to the park. It can be anything from non-fiction to a graphic novel, so long as you enjoyed the read. After a land acknowledgment and Hikerkind introduction, we’ll take a moment to learn more about you and the book you brought to swap. From 11:45 am to 12:30 pm, meet fellow readers, sip on brunch bevs, and build a stack of new books. Bring your MiiR mug from Saturday’s hike for your brunch bev from Alpenglow Coffee. By 12:30 pm, you’ll have an extensive new reading list and a chance to try on that Hikerkind gear you’ve been eyeing.
This month our spotlight organization is Brave Trails, who offer accredited summer camps, backpacking trips, family camps, mental health services, meet-up groups, and year-round leadership programming for LGBTQIA+ youth. You have the option to donate to Brave Trails when registering to attend this event.
Hikerkind HQ is located on Munsee Lenape and Canarsie Land.
