Sleek and polished

I typically wear an L in Hikerkind bottoms (8-pocket pants/shorts, Trail pants/shorts), specifically because M tends to be tight in the waist. These shorts, because of the built in cinch belt, seem to have a much wider range of waist sizes that they fit. I bought an L, but I have to wear them all the way cinched tight in order to get them to stay on my waist; loosening the belt gives another 2-3 inches in the waistband. I considered going down to size M, but I don't mind the cinch (although it does create a bit of a pleat in the back) and appreciate the flexibility for bloat days. I do think both the M and L would work on my body.

Otherwise, they feel very thick and well constructed. The button fly and straight pockets give them a more polished look. The pockets won't hold a ton, but that's made up for in the jacket. Really beautiful color and comfortable for my daily movement.

4.5 Star shorts for city wear

I purchased these shorts for a summer trip where I will have hiking and city days. I have not worn these on hikes, but I tested them out on a 80+ F day in the city recently. After sitting on a pleather seat and feeling sticky sweaty on my legs, my friend said there was no indication on the shorts. They have a slick material that is good for handling sweat. I have two minor critiques. 1. When I put these shorts on, I get scared I am going to rip the seam. The opening is a little tight. It opens to 17.5 inches. I am 39 inches at my widest hip. The Small fits great when on, but I do a little shimmy to get them up my hips. 2. The pockets leave about an inch of my iPhone out of them. When I am walking and have my phone in them, it rubs at a weird spot on my leg. I think a longer pocket would fix this issue. I would give them 5 stars if these things were addressed. Overall, these are super cute shorts and I'm excited to test them out on the trails. For now, I can say they are daytime city-life approved.

One flaw; otherwise perfect ;)

I am 5'6", 150 lbs, and I ordered a medium and they fit perfectly. I absolutely love the design of these shorts and the details like the front pockets and the adjustable back strap. The blue color is vibrant and goes with a lot of stuff in my wardrobe. 4 instead of 5 stars because the buttons are all already loose; I will have to remove all of them and sew them back on.
